Does anyone know where i can find a site or program that has easy web design templates for dummies? I want to design a web page but want to use a template that will make the process as painless as possible, and easy to use? Any ideas?

Soon I will be a designing a personal web site. Can any one recommend me some free web page templates? I do not want to pay dollars for web page templates. I am using Windows XP and will use dreamweaver for editing and inserting images etc.

Should I use layers vs. tables to design a web site in Dreamweaver (MX 2004)? I'm a novice in web design but a quick hands-on-learner. I designed a web page in Dreamweaver using layers. However, I downloaded some templates of web sites I liked and almost all of them have the layouts created with tables instead of layers. What should I use? What are the advantages of using tables vs. layers? I am strictly a "Design Mode" person. I don't know how to code. Thank you!

good place for web design templates? I am looking for a place, or person who can help with designing a website, or may have a fantastic web template that I can use for my website. It is a heavy metal web-zine, and we were running last year as a german only site getting around 10,000 hits a month. Standard site width for design? In designing a new web page template I'm finding it prohibitively challenging to get CSS to work on IE. So much so that I'm almost tempted to just use tables for it rather than spend time trying to hack CSS to make it look uniform for all browsers including IE. What is the standard width that one should design a site to these days - 1024 pixels? Even though that may be the resolution it is often not the default browser window width when opened. What is a good rule of thumb?

What is a good program for web design that has artist gallery pages? I'm looking for a way to enhance my gallery page on my website. I want a slide show type page. I'd like to have thumbnails in a column and then the larger detailed photo next to it when you click on that image. Is there a program that has that sort of template or something? Concerning "MySpace", can XML, and or SWF flash files be used on "MySpace" when designing one's own web page? I read somewhere (on MySpace) that of course html was acceptable, but I wanted to know if XML and SWF flash were acceptable as well. How long should it take to build a nice website? Any good Web Designers recommeded? Our web designer was hired in October 2006, here is our site: www.hottubshawaii.com When finished our site should have about 50 pages, some flash, a 3D "color chooser" where you can mix and match colors on a hot tub, a slide show in the photo gallery, and a 3 question questionairre that should produce a recommeded product. I have given the designer all the photos and info needed to build the site. I actually designed the home page in Photoshop to tell him what I want it to look like. It has been over 7 months now and as you can see, it's not done. We are thinking of firing this guy. Do you have any recommendations for a new designer? If we fire him, will all of the work so far be lost (i.e does he own it?) P.S. There is also an online store, which he put up with a oscommerce template and I have added all the products.

web design questions:? i'm currently using blogger.com to help contruct a website. i'm pretty decent at html's blogger seems like a very good site. currently my address is, http://dennismyers.blogspot.com with this, i can purchase an actual domain, for example... www.randomness.com the cost is unreal, it comes at a beyond bargain price. and i am going to purchase an actual .com address soon. that said this is where my questions lie useing this blogger can i have more than one base template. when you you view my website you can see, that everything is right there. and all the links on the side are to external sites off blogger. i'm wondering if i can put links on the side, such as a navigation bare to let's say another page on my actually website. for example a side link might say FRIENDS: click on it and you go to a friends page that is part of my blog. or when you first go to my page, there is a welcome page, you click than enter. is this possible if so how do i go about it? thank you alot.

I have a Hard Time setting up a "FORM PAGE" using Front Page and Hosting of Yahoo for my Own Sit ! Can someone I just want that the viewers of my site can leave some info of themselves on a given page in my site, since the "Guest Book" page that my web Hosting offers (Yahoo) has created a lot of Spam mail, which I can not tolerate, I can not tell the difference from the actual Live people that have viewed my site from the Ad agencies, I decided to make the form page using Microsoft "Front Page" Templates and my own design, But Now it does not work, and when I publish, it results in going to No where and I don't know how to set it up, I know it has something to do with form properties and all that but still It seems so confusing and I can not figure out how the result of that form can be sent to my e-mail address or even as Front Page says saved them in a hidden page on my site folders and files . How can I edit free html or css templates so i can customise them for my site? I have a new community website at http:www.blackcountrygob.com. The website portal was built by someone I am no longer in contact with and I would like to add new areas to the site and also to improve things but I simply have no clue what I'm doing. If you take a look at the site you will see various links to other areas. The jukebox for example is a plain page with the music player embedded in but it looks plain and boring as does the games section. I would like to use free templates as a base for these sections but just do not know how to use them can anyone offer any help. I'm a silversmith/jewelry designer. Can I sell on Blogger? How do I add my company to search engines? I have a Yahoo 360 page listed under Jessica Dow, which is open to the public. Somone with experience might get a better idea of the best market for my work after seeing some examples. I also have links there to on-line portfolios and my new BLOGGER page ( which has some larger pictures of my custom work). I already have a few things on eBAY, on a trial basis. But I don't think eBAY is the right place for work such as mine. Any advice would be very helpful. I'm planning on starting a professional web-site, but most of the web-site designers I've seen charge prices currently not within my budget. I know there are site-builders, but I don't want a cheap knock off design ( template ) for my site. I want my site to reflect the same quality and beauty as the work I sell there. Design my own site? I am starting my own business online selling only one product. My website will consist of 3 simple pages, a shopping cart, and a free membership area. I am computer literate, and have decent experience using microsoft frontpage to build web pages. The only thing I don't know how to do is integrate my website's template (one with a cart and membership area) to a program like frontpage. And I am not too keen on how to put the site on my host (but I am sure they could help me with that?) The guy I hired to do this is an @$$hole who is taking forever, and everyone else wants thousands of dollars to do it. Would it be possible for someone like me to build the site on my own? Keep consistent format for web pages in html? Hi all, I am designing my website and have two options: (1) use CMS such as drupal and (2) use static HTML. With option (1), I need to have a server that supports php and look into the possibility of increased server load due to regenerating of html code from php files. I understand the option (1). However, my question is on option (2). I saw a lot of website with many menus and the content was updated daily. Sometime, the page layout was changed in those sites and it was changed consistently. I am curious on how they did that. With my current knowledge, if I change a layout in one HTML file, I need to change the rest to keep consistent format. If there are many pages, how to go about updating these pages to keep the same look? Is there any software that help people to keep the template and incorporate the content offline. Then upload all files to server?? Please help. Thanks To verify: I don't want to ask more about option (1) nor like to receive suggestion on which CMS to use. I understand this option. I like to know if there are ways to generating HTML in mass and follow a certain template/format. How to make Nested Menus in PHP? In each of my .php web pages I include("menu.php"). The menu.php file contains a menu of links to my web site pages. How can I modify this simple design (without using a database) in order to create a nested template? Do I have to create a different menu.php file for each group of second level pages? Or can I accomplish a two level menu with a single menu.php file (and still without using a database)? If so, how?

Best Website Design Software? Hi, there! My fiance and I own a new photography business and are tired of using MySpace as our home page, so I bought a domain name and am trying to make a website. I am fairly good with HTML, but I want a site builder that is easy to use so that she could update it on her own. I am looking to buy a program that allows you to create the site using visuals rather than HTML text, you know? Like FrontPage, I guess--that gives you the code while you alter your site. What is the best web hosting comany to use? I am really frustrated. I got a domain from Go Daddy, and purchased a WebSite Tonight subscription. In my entire life, I have never seen a site more poorly designed and non-user friendly than WebSiteTonight.com. Each and every page takes about 45 seconds to load, and it's really hard to navigate too. I know that it was a complete and utter mistake to use WebSite Tonight in the first place, but what other options are there? Here are the features I want: I NEED to be able to input my own HTML, none of the WYSIWYG crap. I really would like to be able to upload files via FTP to my account. I really just need something that allows my to build my own site however I want, without all the crappy pre-built templates and such. Do you have any recommendations? I have 3 photoshop questions for you pro"s? The first question I will try to ask clearly, first I have very little experience in photoshop.. I have seen websites that have an image on the top of the page as a banner (the name of the website) and the have what looks like hand written words on the picture ex. home contact us and these handwritten words are the navigation of the website how can I do this take a picture write on it and turn the words into links to other pages 2) how can I create a trace image in photoshop which will act as a template for other pages.. What is the point of CSS? CSS in web design..........whats the point? can someone please explain to me, in simple terms why they exist? Why are they better than HTML? If they are supposed to allow the web designer more control over the layout why do I always feel the opposite when I am using ready made templates? If on the other hand they enable a website designer to make all round specified design parameters how would I apply it to my site which unfortunately, as it has been built over the years ended up with different font sizes and line spacing on different pages……Is the a CSS tag I could put at the top of each page/main or table to override the other tags The site I am having problems with is www.libyantravels.com any advice to prevent me going mad would be appreciated but please keep it simple.........thanks

E-Commerce hosting question? Hi. I have a question about e-commerce hosting. If I have the front-end code ready to go for an e-commerce site (html pages of products, etc) is there any host that allows me to easily plug in my code to the e-commerce software they provide with the hosting package? I checked with 1and1.com but they said I have to use their template if I want to use the eShop package they provide. (I can place my own logo, header, etc into the template, but I cannot modify the design to make my own). So, here are the questions: 1.
